CHHELD ATTENDS A STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION TRAINING WORKSHOP ORGANIZED BY THE NNNGO. 2nd September, 2022.

The National CSOs/BMOs Directory & CSO Management Information System (MIS) is a technology platform where CSOs, NGOs and BMOs are been registered on the database which seeks to make information about the CSOs, NGOs and BMOs available to the general public and prospective donors and partners. The platform also seeks to strengthen the sector and advocacy and enhance CSO capacity. The workshop which was organized for CSOs/BMOs in Rivers State was aimed at enlightening Executive Directors and representatives of CSOs/BMOs on the web-based platform to be launched and give them the opportunity to make inputs and contributions in the development of the National CSO directory.

The rationale behind the initiative is that technology is beneficial to the growth of CSOs and it will enable CSOs to deliver services effectively, raise the profile of the organization, stay abreast with current developments and legislation, manage information easily, galvanize community support, save cost by working remotely and help the CSO share their contact information, activities and projects to the general public and prospective donors and partners. This can be achieved through the development of a robust web-based application that facilitates the sustainable solution for a national CSO directory and capacity building and strengthening portal across CSOs in Nigeria.

The National CSO directory will provide some of the following services, such as uploading of information about services, the ability for users to import information both offline and online, enabling the general public and prospective donors and partners to see, filter and contact CSO based on their criteria, build the capacity of CSOs with knowledge shared on the platform, access to resources (both financial and material), provision of assessment tools and monitoring and evaluation.

The training workshop gave Executive Directors and representatives of CSOs the opportunities to ask questions and make contributions in the development of the National CSO directory which will be tailored to the needs of CSOs and thus be beneficial to the sector. Participants were also given evaluation forms designed to ask CSOs to write their current needs, problems, and expectations from the National CSO directory.
